Aria the Animation (2005)

Neo-Venezia is a city on the colonised planet Aqua, which is modelled after Venice. Gondolas, whose drivers are called Undine, form an important means of transport, and the training of the drivers is divided into the sections Pair, who wear a glove on both sides, to Single, who only wear a glove on one hand, to the trained Undine, who wear no gloves and is allowed to transport passengers independently. The main character is the young Akari Mizunashi, who works as a single for the gondola company Aria Company under the management of Alicia.

Competing companies are Himeya with apprentice Aika and strict mistress Akira, and Orange Planet with young Alice and the more experienced but rather scatterbrained Athena. The companies each have a blue-eyed cat as their “president”, with President Aria of Aria Company being a rather odd creature with a base of horns on her broad forehead and her plump body.

Neo-Venezia ist eine Stadt auf dem kolonisierten Planeten Aqua, der im Stil Venedig nachempfunden ist. Gondeln, deren Lenker Undine genannt werden, bilden ein wichtiges Verkehrsmittel; und die Ausbildung der Lenker gliedert sich in die Abschnitte als Pair, die beiderseits jeweils einen Handschuh tragen, über die Single, die nur an einer Hand einen Handschuh tragen, bis hin zu ausgebildeten Undinen, die keine Handschuhe tragen und selbständig Fahrgäste befördern dürfen. Die Hauptfigur ist die junge Akari Mizunashi, die als Single für die Gondelgesellschaft Aria Company unter der Leitung von Alicia tätig ist.

Konkurrenzunternehmen sind Himeya mit der Auszubildenden Aika und der strengen Herrin Akira sowie Orange Planet mit der jungen Alice und der erfahreneren, aber ziemlich schusseligen Athena. Die Gesellschaften haben als »Präsident« jeweils eine blauäugige Katze, wobei Präsident Aria der Aria Company mit einem Ansatz von Hörnern auf der breiten Stirn und ihrem plumpen Körper eine recht sonderbare Kreatur darstellt.

En el planeta Aqua se encuentra la ciudad acuosa de Neo-Venecia, un centro turístico en el que la gente se mueve en góndolas. Gondoleros profesionales conocidos como Ondinas actúan como guías turísticos para las personas. Akari Mizunashi es una gondolera en formación y también una empleada de la compañía Aria. Ella llega a conocer todo tipo de personas cuando los lleva de paseo en góndola, desde amigos mentores hasta personas especiales, todo esto es el telón de fondo escénico de la ciudad.
