Eine Zeit, in der Bürgerkriege an der Tagesordnung stehen. Zipangu ist ein Land, in dem die Menschen zusammen mit Gimmick-Kriegern, dies sind übermenschliche Maschinen, zusammenleben. Ständig gibt es einen Machtkampf zwischen den Menschen und den Gimmick-Kriegern. Musashi, ein Samurai Gimmick-Krieger, zieht los, um der beste Samurai zu werden. Auf seiner Reise tritt er gegen sehr viele starke Gegner an und an diesen Herausforderungen wächst er, weswegen er zunehmend besser wird. Von ihrem General werden Musashi und Kojiro, Musashis Rivale, abgesandt, um die Prinzessin zu eskortieren. Der Umgang mit der Prinzessin ist ungemein schwer, daher ist diese Reise mit vielen unglücklichen Geschehnissen verbunden. Schon bald werden sie in einen Kampf verwickelt, bei dem es um die Kontrolle über das ganze Land geht.
