Blood: The Last Vampire (2000)

“Blood: The Last Vampire” is set in 1966, at the time of the Vietnam War. The focus is on Saya, who may look like a high school student of her age but is actually a vampire – but not a regular one because she doesn’t mind sunlight. Since she can’t turn either and doesn’t even have the typical teeth of vampires, this makes her a suitable candidate for assassination. In most cases, her targets are bat-like and blood-sucking creatures called Chiropteran.

No sooner has Saya taken out another target than she receives information from her contact, David, about her new assignment: at least one of these vampiric creatures is said to have infiltrated the Yokota airbase and must be eliminated quickly. As soon as these creatures have consumed enough blood, they go dormant for quite some time and become practically undetectable. As part of this mission, Saya is supposed to pretend to be a student at a neighbouring school, but soon finds out that she is closer to her goal than she thought …

»Blood: The Last Vampire« spielt im Jahre 1966, zur Zeit des Vietnamkriegs. Im Mittelpunkt steht Saya, die vom Alter her zwar wie eine Oberschülerin wirken mag, in Wirklichkeit aber ein Vampir ist – jedoch kein typischer, denn Sonnenlicht macht ihr nicht aus. Da sie sich auch nicht verwandeln kann, nicht einmal die für Vampire typischen Zähne besitzt, macht sie das zur geeigneten Kandidatin für Attentate. In den meisten Fällen sind die Ziele fledermausartige und blutsaugende Kreaturen namens Chiropteran.

Kaum hat Saya eine weitere Zielperson ausgeschaltet, erhält sie von ihrem Kontaktmann David bereits Informationen über ihren neuen Auftrag: Mindestens eine dieser vampirischen Kreaturen soll in den Luftwaffenstützpunkt Yokota eingedrungen sein und muss schnell eliminiert werden. Sobald diese Kreaturen genug Blut zu sich genommen haben, verfallen sie für geraume Zeit in den Ruhezustand und werden praktisch unauffindbar. Im Rahmen dieser Mission soll sich Saya als Schülerin in einer benachbarten Schule ausgeben, muss dort aber schnell feststellen, dass sie ihrem Ziel näher ist als gedacht …

Una nueva raza de vampiros ha surgido de la oscuridad. Están entre nosotros, acechando, sedientos de sangre en busca de nuevas víctimas. Entre sus mejores agentes se encuentra una misteriosa muchacha llamada Saya, cuyo carácter frío y calculador la convierte en la mejor cazadora de vampiros. Por todo ello ha sido escogida para llevar a cabo una peligrosa misión: infiltrarse en una base militar estadounidense situada en Japón e investigar si la serie de misteriosas muertes ocurridas recientemente tienen relación con los vampiros.
