Oseam (2003)

“Oseam”, based on the Korean fairy tale of the same name by Jeong Chae-Bong, is about the blind girl Gami and her younger brother Gilson. The two children have lost their mother and have been roaming the world ever since. One day, they meet two monks and follow them to their monastery. There, Gilson, in particular, settles in well. He plays day in, day out … but the absence of his mother still depresses him. Gami, on the other hand, feels helpless because she cannot give him what he wants. Worse still, she cannot protect him when the bad boys of the neighbourhood torment him.

In »Oseam«, basierend auf dem gleichnamigen koreanischen Märchen von Jeong Chae-Bong, geht es um das blinde Mädchen Gami und ihren jüngeren Bruder Gilson. Die beiden Kinder haben ihre Mutter verloren und streunen seither durch die Welt. Eines Tages treffen sie auf zwei Mönche und folgen ihnen in ihr Kloster. Dort lebt sich vor allem Gilson gut ein. Er spielt tagein tagaus – doch noch immer bedrückt ihn die Abwesenheit seiner Mutter. Gami hingegen fühlt sich hilflos, weil sie ihm nicht das geben kann, was er will. Schlimmer noch: Sie kann ihn nicht beschützen, wenn die bösen Buben der Nachbarschaft ihn quälen.
