Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! (2007)

Set in 2035, many schools are suffering from backsliding birth rates, as more and more schools have had to close due to a lack of students. In this dark time for schools, a girl named Manami Amamiya transfers to Saioh High School for Girls. Manami – or Manabi, as she later wants to be called – is a cheerful and energetic girl who completes all the tasks she sets out to do with vigour and dedication because her motto is: “Full speed ahead!”. When she finds out that the position of student council president is vacant, she wants to do the job, but the headmistress does not allow her at first. Only when Manabi sings the school anthem at an assembly in the school auditorium to prove how important the position is to her, even though she has only heard the anthem once, does everyone – including the headmistress – realise how much she cares about the job. Thus, she gets the position of student council president. With the other members of the student council, she brings a breath of fresh air into everyday school life at Saioh High School …

Wir schreiben das Jahr 2035; viele Schulen leiden an den rückfälligen Geburtszahlen, denn immer mehr und mehr Schulen mussten wegen eines Mangels an Schülern schließen. In dieser für Schulen dunklen Zeit wechselt ein Mädchen namens Manami Amamiya auf die Saioh Oberschule für Mädchen. Manami – oder Manabi, wie sie später genannt werden will – ist ein fröhliches und energiegeladenes Mädchen, das alle Aufgaben, die sie anpackt auch voller Elan und Hingabe erledigt, denn ihr Motto ist: »Volle Kraft voraus!«. Als sie herausfindet, dass der Posten der Schülerratspräsidentin frei ist, will sie diesen Job machen, jedoch erlaubt die Direktorin es ihr anfangs nicht. Erst als Manabi bei einer Versammlung in der Schulaula die Schulhymne singt, um zu beweisen, wie wichtig ihr der Posten ist, obwohl sie die Hymne nur einmal gehört hat, erkennen alle – inklusive der Direktorin – wie viel ihr an dem Job liegt und sie erhält den Posten der Schülerratspräsidentin. Zusammen mit den anderen Mitgliedern des Schülerrats bringt sie frischen Wind in den Schulalltag der Saioh Oberschule …
