Sayuri gehört neben Eri, Mikako, Harumi und Junko zu den fünf Cafeteria-Angestellten, die Miss Houmei in der Bordküche der Nadesico zur Hand gehen. Sie ist die Größte der Fünf und trägt ihre Haare zu einem hochgesteckten Pferdeschwanz zusammengebunden. Außerdem scheint sie ein Auge auf Akito geworfen zu haben - die anderen Cafeteria-Mädchen fragen sie deswegen auch, ob sie das für eine so gute Idee halte, aber sie antwortet nur augenzwinkernd, dass sie sich vor der Kapitänin schon in Acht zu nehmen wisse.
