Eine Schülerin der 3-B (Chizurus Klasse). Sie hat eine lockere und unverkrampfte Art und steht sogar Jouji Goudas Exzentrizität unvoreingenommen gegenüber. Ihr mildes, freundliches Auftreten veranlasst Jouji kurzfristig, sie als seinen neuen »Engel« zu erwählen, nachdem er bei Akane Suzumiya abgeblitzt ist, muss aber unmittelbar feststellen, dass Sumika offenbar bereits eine innige Freundschaft mit ihrem Klassenkameraden Takeru pflegt.
