Misatos engste Freundin Aoi Katase besucht dieselbe Klasse an der Highschool wie sie und die beiden sind auch Sitznachbarn. Sie ist eine eher stille, aber sehr freundliche Person, wobei neben Misato wohl jeder still und zurückhaltend aussehen würde. Auf jeden Fall versucht sie zumindest, Misato ein wenig im Zaum zu halten, wenn die allzu sehr durchdreht. Bei dem Versuch bleibt es jedoch, denn genau wie Mahiru bei Yamada ist auch Aoi bei Misato als Stimme der Vernunft völlig chancenlos und so entweicht ihr des Öfteren ein resignierender Seufzer, wenn ihre beste Freundin mal wieder jeglichen gesunden Menschenverstand über Bord wirft und zu einem liebestollen Irrwisch mutiert.
