Yaten ist wohl so etwas wie das »Sorgenkind« der Band Three Lights. Er ist stets anderer Meinung als Seiya, benimmt sich oft hochnäsig und ist extrem eingebildet und unfreundlich. Scheinbar können ihn nur Tiere, besonders Katzen, besänftigen. Dennoch tritt er zusammen mit Taiki und Seiya auf und auch er wird von vielen Mädchen angehimmelt. Er lehnt Sport grundsätzlich ab und meckert lieber über alles was ihm nicht passt.

Genau wie Seiya und Taiki ist Yaten nur als Mann getarnt. Wenn er sich verwandelt wird er zu Sailor Star Healer und bildet zusammen mit Sailor Star Maker und Sailor Star Fighter das Sailor Trio Starlights. Zusammen sind sie auf die Erde gekommen (sie stammen aus einer anderen Galaxie) um nach ihrer Prinzessin zu suchen, die auf der Erde zu sein scheint.
