Lord Vincent Phantomhive war ein liebender Vater und Ehemann. Wie seine Vorfahren übte auch er als Oberhaupt der Familie Phantomhive die Aufgabe des »Wachhunds der Königin« aus. Anders als bei seinem Sohn später war dabei sein Verhältnis zu Queen Viktoria trotz seiner unbestrittenen Königstreue von einiger Distanz geprägt.

Besonders Ciel wollte Vincent vor der hässlichen Seite dieser Familienaufgabe schützen. Dies misslang jedoch letztendlich, da Lord Phantomhive in der Nacht vor Ciels Geburtstag von einer mysteriösen Sekte ermordet wurde, die seinen Sohn verschleppte und in den folgenden Monaten für okkulte Zwecke missbrauchte.
