Er ist der Großvater von Kaoru und das Oberhaupt der Hanabishi-Familie, sowie der Chef der Hanabishi Group. Er ist ein sehr strenger und gewalttätiger Mensch, der vor allem in der Erziehung mit harter und unbarmherziger Hand regiert. Die Vergangenheit zählt für ihn ebenso wenig wie Mitgefühl für andere oder das Trauern um eine verstorbene Person.

Er hat in der Jugend von Kaoru eine Verlobung mit Aoi Sakuraba, der Tochter und Erbin des Oberhaupts des Sakuraba-Clans, beschlossen.
