Ichiru Kiryu ist der Zwillingsbruder von Zero Kiryu und hatte in seiner Kindheit eine sehr sehr schwache Konstitution.

Für eine Vampirjägerfamilie wie der von Zero, ist es eigentlich unmöglich Zwillinge zu bekommen, denn selbst wenn sich in der Gebärmutter zwei Föten befinden, wird der eine immer vom anderen sozusagen »aufgefressen«, d.h. dessen Energie ausgesaugt. Deswegen sind Ichiru und Zero auch so außergewöhnlich.
Obwohl er seinen Zwillingsbruder unendlich liebt entwickelte er später einen Hass auf seinen Zwillingsbruder Zero.
