Hiroyuki Oota ist der Teilnehmer am japanischen Anfängerturnier aus der Nerima Boxhalle und hat ein leicht übersteigertes Selbstwertgefühl. Als Jason Ozuma nach Tokyo kommt und in der Boxhalle sein letztes Training vor seinem Kampf gegen Ippo Makunouchi absolviert, bietet Hiroyuki ihm einen kurzen Sparringskampf mit ihm an. Leider verzichtet er zu seinem Pech auf einen Kopfschutz und verspottet Jason mit hämischen Kommentaren während des Trainings, was für seine Teilnahme am Turnier schließlich nicht wirklich hilfreich ist.
