Agumon ist Yagami Taichis Partner. Vom Wesen her ist er einfach und gutherzig. Wie alle Partner-Digimon hat auch Agumon einen Drang bzw den Urinstinkt, seinen Partner zu beschützen und für ihn zu kämpfen. Aufgrund seines weniger zurückhaltenden Charakters, stehen er und Taichi des Öfteren im Mittelpunkt, weswegen man sie allerdings nicht als Hauptcharaktere missverstehen darf.
