Cam ist ein sogenannter »Newmanoid«, eine genetisch aufgewertete künstliche Lebensform. Die Verbesserungen beschränken sich allerdings auf körperliche Attribute, denn auf geistiger Ebene stellt sie eher das Gegenteil dar, nämlich eine ziemlich hohle Nuss. Unter anderem glaubt sie nahezu alles, weil sie sich gar nicht vorstellen kann, dass man sie herein legen könnte. Genau das passiert deswegen aber des öfteren.
Vor allem möchte sie ihren Partner, den Polizisten Scott, dem sie bei der Arbeit helfen soll, davon überzeugen, dass sie auch eine gute Polizistin ist, weswegen sie alleine klar zu kommen versucht, damit er sie später lobt, wie gut sie eine Situation gelöst hat.

Bei ihrer aktuellen Mission in einem belebten Einkaufszentrum ziehen sie ungewollt die Aufmerksamkeit der Leute auf sich, weil ihr Aussehen in Kombination mit ihren Uniformen fast haargenau mit einem Pärchen aus einer gerade populären TV-Serie übereinstimmt. Den Begriff Cosplayer hat Cam zwar noch nie gehört, aber als Scott vorschlägt, sich als solche zu tarnen, ist sie gleich Feuer und Flamme. Dummerweise gerät sie ausgerechnet an ein Rudel Perverser, die ihre Unkenntnis und Naivität schamlos ausnutzen. Aber Cam tut eben alles, um ihren Scott nicht zu enttäuschen.
