Um ihren Sohn zu einem respektablen Mann zu erziehen, verlangt sie von ihm einiges. Da sie ihn den ganzen Tag lernen lässt, damit er an eine gute Schule gehen kann, hat er keine Freunde und verbringt die meiste Zeit zu Hause. Seine Unzufriedenheit erkennt sie aber nicht, denn sie ist der Ansicht, dass dies alles zum Wohle ihres Sohnes geschieht.

Nachdem ihr Mann Schulden macht und diese nicht mehr abbezahlen kann, flüchtet die ganze Familie vor den Eintreibern, da Toshiya in diesem Moment nicht zu Hause ist, wird er alleine gelassen. Auch wenn sie später einsieht, dass sie einen großen Fehler begangen hat, den Mut, ihren Sohn nochmals zu sehen, kann sie nicht aufbringen.
