Eine der wenigen Familien, die in der Nähe der Kokoro Bibliothek leben, sind die Okajimas, welche ein kleines Herrenhaus in den Bergen bewohnen. Daher ist ihre Tochter Akaha auch schon seit Jahren sehr eng mit Kokoro befreundet, zumal sich beide etwa im gleichen Alter befinden. Weshalb Midori auch ein gern gesehener Gast in der Bibliothek ist und sich ebenfalls blendend mit deren Bewohnern versteht. Sie hat auch nicht das geringste Problem damit, wenn Akaha bei Kokoro übernachtet. Überhaupt ist sie eine sehr freundliche und warmherzige Frau, die immerzu mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht zu sehen ist und keiner Fliege etwas zu leide tun könnte.
