Yasuyuki arbeitet im familieneigenen Holzfällerbetrieb und beliefert die umliegenden Geschäfte mit dem Holz der um das ganze Dorf befindlichen Momi-Tannen. Wie Ootsuka Lumber gibt es mehrere Betriebe im Dorf, da die meisten Bewohner ihr Geld mit der Aufzucht der Momi-Tannen oder der Herstellung von Grabtafeln und Särgen machen, was schon so etwas wie die Spezialität von Sotoba darstellt. Eine sehr freundliche Person ist Yasuyuki, der auf die selbe offene Art auch Neueinwohnerin Chizuru Kirishiki bedient.
