Nach dem Tod seiner Eltern wurde Ralph zur wichtigsten Person im Leben seiner kleinen Schwester Sarah, kümmerte sich aufopferungsvoll und mit viel Hingabe um sie und war immer für sie da, wenn sie ihn brauchte. Als seinem Land treu dienender Soldat entschied er sich aber dafür einen Auftrag anzunehmen, der ihn mehrere Lichtjahre von ihr wegführen würde und mit sicherer Wahrscheinlichkeit bedeuten würde, dass sie sich einander nie wiedersehen werden. Auch wenn er ihr versprach, dass er zurückkommen würde und ihr seinen Glücksanhänger schenkte, kam er nie zurück. In der ganzen Union gilt Ralph als Held, als einer der besten Reasoner der gesamten Flotte und die jüngste Person, die Pilot eines Glorie Strain wurde.
