Waldo Crowley ist ein Schwarzmagier, der sich für Geld anheuern lässt und auf dem gesamten Kontinent praktiziert. Er willigt in Lieses Offerte ein, ihr im Großkönigreich Luvence zum Thron zu verhelfen, macht aber zur Bedingung, dass er die Methode bestimmt, mittels derer er die Thronbesteigung der Ersten Prinzessin Tita unmöglich machen wird.

Um seine magische Kraft zu erneuern benutzt er Frauen als Katalysator, die er daraufhin dazu benutzt, um für ihn eine Dämonenarmee auszubrüten. Damit treibt er seinen eigentlichen Plan voran, Rache für seine durch Truppen aus Luvence unter der Anklage der Häresie völlig ausgelöschte Heimatnation Izuur zu nehmen. Die Ausübung der Dunklen Künste hat ihn selbst zum großen Teil seine Menschlichkeit verlieren lassen, so dass er mehr in den Maßstäben eines Dämons denkt als eines Menschen.
