Makino ist die Gastwirtin aus Luffys Heimatdorf Fuschia Village. Sie ist im ganzen Dorf äußerst beliebt und auch unter den vorbeifahrenen Piraten, wie zum Beispiel bei Shanks und seinen Kameraden. Ihre sehr nette und freundliche Persönlichkeit zeigt sie vor allem bei Luffy, sie ermutigt ihn bei seinem Vorhaben Piratenkönig zu werden und man könnte deswegen auch sagen, dass sie ein wenig mütterliche Gefühle für ihn hat.

Sie freut sich immer besonders darauf, wenn es neue Steckbriefe von Luffy gibt und muss das stets mit Woop Slap, dem Bürgermeister des Dorfes ausdiskutieren.
