Prinz Lynos von Valcania musste die Thronfolge aufgeben, da seine Nation nach dem Krieg einer Konföderation aus fünf Ländern beitrat, womit ein neues politisches System und dauerhafter Frieden etabliert werden soll. Bei den Traditionalisten stößt das allerdings auf Widerstand. Zu ihnen gehört Lynos, der die Konföderation stürzen und die Nation zurück gewinnen will, weil er nur Nachteile für sein Volk daraus erwachsen sieht. Er fordert Diannas Lehnstreue ein, weil sie seinem Vater immer gut gedient habe.
