Als Sion Astal noch ein Kind war, hatte er als Teil des einfachen Pöbels ein schweres Leben; wurde verachtet, schikaniert und Schlimmeres. Zu allem Überfluss verstarb noch seine über alles geliebte Mutter recht früh an einer Krankheit, so dass er sich alleine durchs Leben schlagen musste. Nichtsdestotrotz beschritt er seinen Weg weiter, auf die Weise, die ihm die richtige erschien und hörte vor allem auf den Rat, den seine Mutter ihm einst mit auf den Weg gab.
