Ein kleines Mädchen aus dem Dorf, deren Eltern allen Anschein nach nicht zu den Wohlhabenden zu zählen sind. Aus diesem Grund muss sie bereits in ihrem Alter bis zur Abenddämmerung draußen auf dem Feld arbeiten, obwohl sie viel lieber lernen würde und deswegen regelmäßig einen sehnsüchtigen Blick zur Schule wirft; ein Traum, der für sie aber nicht in Erfüllung gehen soll. Auf dem Feld bekommt sie allerdings oft Besuch von Minosuke, der hier immer mal wieder aushilft und sie anspricht, noch ist ihr Interesse an ihm aber nur oberflächlich.
