Yutori Takamagahara ist eine der wenigen Lehrerinnen an der Butei High School (武偵高校), die der Gewaltanwendung komplett entsagt haben und die ihren Schülern friedliche Methoden der Verhandlung beibringen. Als Leiterin der Abteilung Inquesta (探偵科 [インケスタ], für näheres, siehe hier) ist sie für die Recherche von Informationen zuständig, die bei einer Fallauflösung behilflich sein können.
