Polizist Uozumi konsultiert seinen früheren Kollegen Reiji gelegentlich noch bei schwierigen Fällen. Die beiden Männer sind miteinander und der Barbesitzerin Kyouko befreundet, bei der sie sich schon seit langem häufig treffen und für die Uozumi offenbar etwas empfindet, was er, wohl aus Respekt vor der jungen Witwe, zurückhält. Allerdings verhindert das nichts, dass er Anzeichen von Eifersucht demonstriert, selbst wenn Reiji und Kyouko nur Smalltalk betreiben.

Im Moment bereiten ihm einige grausige Funde der letzten Wochen Kopfzerbrechen: Abgetrennte Gliedmaßen, die von jungen Frauen zu stammen scheinen. Es scheint so zu sein, dass die Arme und Beine noch lebenden Personen abgetrennt wurden, einen Torso haben sie bisher aber noch nicht gefunden. Für weitere Informationen könne sich Reiji an Natsume Takashiro wenden, mit der sich beide zwar nicht gut verstehen, aber wer täte das schon, wie Uozumi sarkastisch anmerkt.
