Kyouka ist eine Freundin von Mirai, Nozomus Mutter, kennt ihn selbst aber auch und pflegt mit ihm eine freundschaftliche Beziehung. Das könnte man als Besonderheit bezeichnen, denn Kyouka hat große Schwierigkeiten damit, Kontakte zu knüpfen. Dieses Problem begleitet sie schon seit der Schulzeit bzw. fing es zu dieser Zeit richtig an, da sie immer eine Außenseiterin war und von ihren Klassenkameraden gemieden wurde. Die Ursache lag jedoch nur indirekt bei ihren Klassenkameraden. Soll heißen, dass sie eine Mitschuld trug, da sie auf andere herabsah und es nicht mochte, dass niemand sie als jemand besonderes behandelte. Dieses Problem verursachte nicht nur, dass sie einsam war, sondern auch, dass sie an Insomnie, also an Schlaflosigkeit, leidete. Selbst als erwachsene Frau mangelt es Kyouka an der Fähigkeit, soziale Kontakte knüpfen zu können. Dazu kommt noch der Druck, der von ihrer Mutter ausgelöst wird, da diese will, dass sie auf dem schnellstmöglichen Weg einen Enkel für sie zeugt. Alleine aus dieser Zwickmühle zu kommen ist für sie unmöglich, weshalb sie Nozomus Angebot für ein Beratungsgespräch annimmt.
