Norika lebte mit ihrem Vater in Svererra, einer Wüstenstadt. Als sie sich eines Tages in einen Mazoku (=Dämonenrasse) verliebte und ihn heiratete, brach sie damit das Gesetz von Svererra, das eine Verbindung zwischen Menschen und Mazoku verbot.
Ihr Mann wurde gefasst und wie es das Gesetz vorschreibt, ermordet. Norika hingegen wurde, obwohl sie schwanger war, in die Minen verbannt, wo sie auf Lebenszeit arbeiten muss. Ihr Kind wurde ihr, wie es das Gesetz vorschreibt, direkt nach der Geburt entrissen und ebenfalls getötet.
