Der Minotaurus überwacht den Übergang zum siebten Höllenkreis und sieht in Dante denjenigen, der ihn einst zur Strecke gebracht hat. Er besticht mehr durch Masse und pure Gewalt als durch Intelligenz, weshalb er leicht durcheinander zu bringen ist. Hier ist einer der seltenen Momente, wo Virgil die begleitende Rolle ablegt und selber aktiv wird, wenigstens in gewisser Hinsicht. Er provoziert den Minotaurus dermaßen, dass er völlig blind vor Wut wird und unachtsam auf Dante zurast, so dass dieser leichtes Spiel mit ihm hat, ohne dabei seine Waffen gebrauchen zu müssen.
