Der Dorfvorsteher von Pecks Heimatort musste tatenlos mit ansehen, wie ein Gerold-Riesenvogel sein Dorf dem Erdboden gleich machte. Aus Angst vor dem Monster versteckten die Bewohner sich, während der flinke Peck entkommen konnte, um Hilfe zu holen. Der Alte weiß jedoch, dass es eine noch viel gefährlichere Bestie in dieser Gegend gibt, nämlich den Elefantenbär. Weil das letzte Exemplar vor 15 Jahren gesichtet wurde und die Verwüstungen damals verheerend waren, hatte er seinerzeit verboten, jemals wieder darüber zu sprechen, um die schmerzvollen Erinnerungen nicht wieder wachzurufen.
