Hajime Saito wurde am 14. Febuar 1844 geboren und war während der Bakumatsu-Zeit der Truppenkapitän des dritten Korps der Shinsengumi. Da Kenshin Himura zu dieser Zeit Attentäter der Choshu-Rebellen war, sieht Saito seitdem einen erbitterten Feind in dem legendären Schwertkämpfer.

Nach der Meiji-Restauration ging Saito in den Polizeidienst der neuen Regierung, um auch weiterhin das Recht zu behalten, ein Schwert tragen zu dürfen. Damit ihm seine alte politische Einstellung keine Schwierigkeiten macht, nennt er sich seitdem »Goro Fujita«.

Saito besiegt jeden Feind mit seiner meisterhaften Schwerttechnik, der linkshändigen »Hirazuki«. Er kämpft mit dem Grundsatz »Böses wird sofort bestraft!«, was seine Auffassung von Gerechtigkeit ist.

Zusatzinformation:
Hajime Saito (18.02.1844 – 28.09.1915) hat wirklich gelebt und sein späterer Namenswechsel in »Goro Fujita« sowie seine Vergangenheit bei den Shinsengumi und späteren Polizei basieren auf real-historischen Überlieferungen.
