Eiji ist der kleine Bruder des Polizisten Eichiro und lebte mit seinen Eltern in dem Dorf Shingetsu. Doch als die Leute von Shishio das Dorf übernahmen, ermordeten diese seine Eltern und später auch seinen großen Bruder, da sie sich gegen die Eindringlinge zu wehren versuchten. Obwohl Eiji nicht mit dem Schwert umgehen kann, ergreift er das Schwert seines toten Bruders und schwört, seine Familie zu rächen.
