König Cardiss I. ist der derzeitige Herrscher des Landes und nebenbei bemerkt der Onkel von Joshua. Da sein Neffe nach dem Tod seines Bruders, der freiwillig auf den Thron verzichtet hat, sein einziger Nachfolger ist, möchte er ihn um jeden Preis zu sich holen. Cardiss ist sehr streng und hat zu seinem Neffen kein gutes Verhältnis. Seit dem Tod seiner Eltern lebte Joshua nur bei der Familie mütterlicher Seite, so dass er seinen Onkel nie wirklich kennenlernen konnte.
