Die Mutter von Joshua kommt aus einer wohlhabenden Familie. Eines Tages verliebt sich Christina jedoch in den Prinzen des Landes und heiratet ihn wenig später. Dieser verzichtet für sie sogar auf den Thron und sie bekommen ihren Sohn Joshua. Glücklich über seine Geburt leben die drei friedlich zusammen, bis eines Tages Christinas Mann verstirbt. Unter tiefen Depressionen leidend stirbt auch Christina ein paar Jahre später an dem Verlust und ihrem gebrochenen Herzen.
