Vom Zeitfenster des Serienbeginns aus betrachtet ist Koutas Vater bereits seit acht Jahren tot, er starb also, als Kouta zehn Jahre alt war. Bis auf die Tatsache, dass Vater und Sohn sich sehr ähnlich sehen, ist über ihn so gut wie nichts bekannt. Die Umstände seines Todes stellt eine der Gedächtnislücken dar, die Kouta in Bezug auf seine Vergangenheit besitzt - außer, dass es sich um einen Unfall gehandelt habe, vermag er dazu nichts weiter zu sagen.
