Akitsugu Saionji will vom Erbe seines Vaters nichts wissen, da er diesen immer gehasst hat. Er lastet ihm den Selbstmord seiner Mutter an, den sie aus Kummer begangen haben soll. Nichtsdestotrotz lässt er sich von Rei Sannomiya überreden, doch das Herrenhaus, das zum Nachlass gehört, zu beziehen, um diversen Ungereimtheiten auf den Grund zu gehen. Dass er sich alsbald in augenscheinlicher Lebensgefahr befindet, weil um ihn herum die Dienstmädchen eine nach der anderen ermordet werden, schüchtert ihn jedoch nicht ein. In dieser Hinsicht ist er ziemlich kaltblütig und mittlerweile viel zu entschlossen, das Rätsel um seinen alten Herren zu lösen, als dass er jetzt den Schwanz einziehen würde.
