Linda lebt mit ihrem Vater in einem großen Anwesen in der Nähe des Dschungels. Ihr Vater ist Jäger und fängt Tiere des Dschungels, um sie dann zu verkaufen. Linda liebt die Tiere und ist deshalb gar nicht einverstanden damit, wie ihr Vater die Tiere quält.
Als ihr Vater eines Tages einen jungen schwarzen Panter mitbringt, sorgt sie sich sehr um ihn und nennt ihn Baghira. Obwohl ihr Vater es ihr verbietet, pflegt sie ihn, als Baghira am verhungern ist.
