Hotori ist ein sehr stilles Mädchen, die man außerhalb der Unterrichtsstunden meist im Clubraum des Kunstclubs antrifft, wo sie an einem für sie ganz besonderen Bild arbeitet. Sie ist sehr empfindlich, was das angeht und will es niemandem zeigen, bevor es nicht vollendet ist. Dass sie sich so zurückzieht, hat einen ernsten Hintergrund: Sie verlor bereits früh ihre Mutter und als einige Jahre später ihr Vater verkündete, wieder heiraten zu wollen, fühlte sie sich aufs Abstellgleis geschoben und begann zu rebellieren, indem sie sich in schlechte Gesellschaft begab und so tat, als sei sie bereits erwachsen. Nächtelanges Herumhängen mit ihren falschen Freunden und Trinkgelage führten irgendwann zu einem tragischen und für sie traumatischen Erlebnis, seit dem sie eine unübersehbare Scheu vor Männern zeigt. Die einzige Ausnahme stellt der Kunstlehrer Shimotsuki-sensei dar, in den sie sich sogar verliebt hat. Ihm gegenüber würde sie sich auch wieder öffnen, wenn er ihre Gefühle denn erwidern würde.
