Äußerlich ist Ruka das absolute Sinnbild einer Frau: Ungemein höflich, wohl erzogen und mit einer sanftmütigen, lieblichen Stimme gesegnet und ausgesprochen feminin. Einziges Problem ist nur, Ruka ist überhaupt kein Mädchen. Ein Umstand, der ihm selber wohl schwer zu schaffen macht, während das für Rintarou ohne Belang ist und ihn so nimmt wie er ist, ohne dumme Scherze oder sonstiges. Vermutlich auch aus diesem Grund ist Ruka heimlich in Rintarou verliebt, was man ihm relativ leicht am erröteten Gesicht ablesen kann, sobald er von Rintarou gelobt wird, nur Rintarou merkt davon nichts. Ansonsten ist Ruka oft mit Unsicherheit behaftet und wird zuweilen Opfer von Mayuris Cosplay-Gelüsten. Wobei er gegen diese keine Einwände hat und sie ihm sogar zum Teil Spaß machen, immerhin kleidet er sich selber auch schon sehr feminin. Neben der Schule hilft er außerdem seinem Vater bei der Arbeit im familienbetriebenen Yanagibayashi Schrein.
