Für Mikan ist ihr Großvater ein Vorbild, weswegen sie sich stets an seine Worte erinnert, wenn sie Entscheidungen zu treffen hat. In Wirklichkeit hat er Mikan nur adoptiert, sprich sie sind nicht blutsverwandt. Trotz dessen ist er immerwährend um die quirlige Mikan besorgt und liebt sie als wäre sie sein eigenes Enkelkind, weswegen sie auch große Schuldgefühle hegt, nachdem sie von Zuhause weggerannt war um ihrer Freundin Hotaru auf die Alice Academy zu folgen. Auch wenn er alt sein mag, ist er erstaunlich fit auf den Beinen und sehr lebendig, sodass ihn kaum etwas aus der Fassung bringen kann, außer es geht um Mikan, denn dann fährt selbst er aus der Haut.
