Wirklich anfreunden kann er sich zunächst nicht mit Reiji Fujita, der sich in einen Konflikt zwischen Gemäldedieben und den Kurieren aus Italien einmischt. Das liegt einfach daran, dass er seinen Charakter zunächst nicht erfassen kann und vor allem über dessen Fähigkeiten nicht Bescheid weiß. Als die Madonna jedoch zu Schaden kommt und Reiji das Bild erfolgreich repariert, muss er seine Sicht über ihn überdenken.
