Als der Dorfälteste entscheidet, dass in diesem Jahr seine Tochter Ai dem Berggott geopfert werden soll, will er das nicht so einfach hinnehmen und bittet deshalb Sentarou um einen großen Gefallen: Ai vor den Dorfbewohnern zu verstecken. Er weiß, dass seine Bitte sehr egoistisch ist und Sentarou dadurch auch in Gefahr gerät, er weiß jedoch nicht, wen er und seine Frau sonst fragen sollten, da Sentarou der einzige ist, der zu Ai nett gewesen ist.
