Sugimura ist ein Freund von Shizuku und geht zusammen mit ihr und Yuuko auf die selbe Schule. Er spielt im Baseball Schulteam, allerdings nur als Balljunge. Sugimura kommt gut mit den beiden Mädchen klar und versucht immer, wenn sie sich treffen, in einem guten Licht dazustehen und die beiden zu beeindrucken. Er besitzt eine freundliche und hilfsbereite Art, ist aber sehr schüchtern, wenn es darum geht Gefühle zu äußern.

Sein Gehabe vor den beiden Mädchen hat damit zu tun, dass er heimlich in Shizuku verliebt ist und er sie deshalb immer versucht zu beeindrucken. Er bemerkt nicht, dass Yuuko diejenige ist, die heimlich in ihn verliebt ist.
