Toyo hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, über die Kinder zu wachen, welche von ihren Eltern verlassen wurden bzw. ihre Eltern verloren haben. Entsprechend nahe stehen sich die Kinder und sie auch, weswegen auch die Kinder gerne bemüht sind, alles zu tun, um ihr zu helfen. Taki wandert deswegen durch die Wüste, in der Hoffnung, jemanden zu finden, der das verlorene Wasser wieder ins Dorf zurückbringt.
