Vor Nagamasa war ihr Vater Asai Hisamasa Daimyo von Oumi. Es ist seiner Indoktrination zu »verdanken«, dass Nagamasa ihre Weiblichkeit verleugnet und versucht, als männlicher Daimyo zu herrschen. Da er seine Tochter für unfähig hält, übernimmt Hisamasa selbst wieder die Herrschaft über Oumi und stellt sich gemeinsam mit dem Asakura-Clan gegen Oda Nobuna und ihren General Yoshiharu, dessen Kopf er rollen sehen will. Wirklich wohl ist ihm dabei nicht, da er Nobunas Führungskraft und ihre Wirkung auf die Kampfmoral der Soldaten fürchtet.
