Einst hat Thinker die Gilde Aincrad Liberation Force (oder kurz The Army) ins Leben gerufen, um den Schwachen zu helfen und mit den anderen Spielern das Spiel zu beenden, doch umso größer seine Gilde wurden, umso unterschiedlicher wurden ihre Interessen, sodass schließlich interne Kämpfe um die Ausrichtung der Gilde begannen. Thinker glaubte trotzdem noch an die Ehrlichkeit seiner Mitstreiter, wodurch er schließlich vom Anführer des radikalen Zweiges, Kibaou, in eine Falle gelockt wurde, die sich tief unten im geheimen Dungeon Black Iron Castle befindet und er aus eigenen Kräften nicht mehr herauskommt. Als Rettung in Person seiner Stellvertretenden Yulier sowie Kirito und Asuna naht, versucht er sie noch zu warnen, aber da ist es bereits zu spät...
