Als Berater ihrer Majestät Couverte Eschenbach Pastillage hat es Callaway Risler nicht immer leicht. Während er im Alltagsgeschäft nur wenig zu tun hat und es ganz Couverte überlässt, so wird er doch immer wieder von ihren verrückten Ideen und spontanen Einfällen förmlich überrollt. Ein Highlight dürfte dabei für ihn die Beteiligung an den Kriegsspielen der Nationen Biscotti und Galette sein, in die er sich als Anführer der Eschenbacher Flugreiter mit einem unvorbereiteten und recht kleinen Heer einmischen soll. Jedoch ist er trotz aller Widrigkeiten noch immer mit Begeisterung und Eifer bei der Arbeit und schätzt Couverte als Herrscherín sehr. Nebenbei kann er in seiner Position auch dafür Sorge tragen, dass so mancher Einfall am Ende doch noch Gutes hervorbringt.
