Mit ihrem Ehemann Grodek führte Airi geradezu eine Bilderbuchehe, die sie sich kaum schöner hätte wünschen können. Es mangelte beiden an nichts und hatten mit Sara auch eine Tochter, die beide von ganzem Herzen liebten und andersherum. Selbst dass ihr Gatte hin und wieder für einige Zeit eine Dienstreise zu einer anderen Kolonie antreten musste, um dort zu arbeiten, war für sie nie ein großes Problem. Doch während einer solchen Reise änderte sich alles als ihre Kolonie aus heiterem Himmel von Außerirdischen angegriffen wurde und die ganze Kolonie zerstört wurde, denen auch sie und ihre Tochter zum Opfer fielen. Fortan wurde dieser Tag als »The Day Angel fell« bezeichnet und gilt als Anfang des Kampfes gegen die Unknown Enemy.
