Als Kleinkind wuchs Utsutsu in einer recht normalen Umgebung auf. Doch dies änderte sich, als seine Mutter Sachiko ein weiteres Kind zur Welt brachte, an der sie zerbrach. Doch der kleine Utsutsu bemerkte die Abartigkeit seiner kleinen süßen Schwester nicht, sondern fing eher an, sie abgöttisch zu lieben. Ututsu verlor das Vertrauen in seine Mutter durch ihre unverständliche Kälte zu ihrer Tochter und er begann sich fortan nur noch um seine geliebte Yume zu sorgen und jegliche Zweifel an ihr zu ignorieren.
