Dank Smith ist Pelo trotz Verlust seiner Eltern weder alleine noch fühlt er sich einsam. Viel eher bekommt man bei ihm das Gefühl, dass er, da er eben Smith hat, doch recht glücklich ist, was aber eben auch daran liegt, dass er den Krieg in seinen jungen Jahren nur bedingt wahrnimmt.
